Teaninich
Scotland
A rare 10 year old from the Eastern Highland distillery, Teaninich. The Flora and Fauna series are becoming increasingly rare.
The nose is quite frgrant with fruit and a greenness. Notes of cut hay and chamomile, hints of wood resins and potpourri with a little winter spice and a gentle citric acidity. The palate is of medium-body with a pleasant dryness. There are notes of barley sugars and cereal notes. There are some oily herbal notes with more of that citric acidity developing with a hint of espresso. The finish is quite dry and of medium-length with its gentle cut grasses.
I bought my first one of these in a wooden box many moons ago, still have the box and the empty bottle, delicious. One of the first malts I had that was different from the rest from the area, light like a lowland but full of highland character, quite unique.
Personally I used to love it. But cannot seem to get it now
Reminds me of summer hay fields wet with a morning dew. Nice and mild.
Very enjoyable this one, my favourite of the Flora and Fauna range so far. This is easy to drink, with a decent finish. It's a bit pricy for a 10YO so that is reflected in the rating. It's subtle in flavour but fairly complex - I do fancy another bottle.
Underrated to say the least.
