    Teacher's Highland Cream

A very famous blended whisky, a rather good blend too. Jim Murray awarded Teacher's Highland Cream 90 points in his Whisky Bible.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Fruity, malty aromas. Just a hint of peat smoke with a good dollop of gooey toffee.

    Palate

Soft smoke, barley malt and manuka honey. Hints of Malt-driven palate with soft spices.

    Finish

Malt and smoke on the finish. Classic.

    Great value.

Punches well above its weight. I drink it with a tiny dash of water and the taste is great.

    Great Blended Scotch

A very nice blend, on the nose, malty, oaky, vanilla, toffee, a hint of smoke and peat. The taste is very smooth, creamy, vanilla, oak and toffee, the peat is there, but very subtle. Even if you're not a fan of peated whisky, you should like this, as the peat is very much in the background, but it cuts through the sweetness very nicely, giving a nice, balanced taste. A little water brings out the peat a little more. If you're a fan of peated whisky, the Ardmore single malt can often be had on offer for just a few pounds more than Teacher's and Ardmore is the main peated malt in Teacher's. The Ardmore is worth the extra, but only for peat fans. Definitely not as much peat/smoke as JW Black, but for me the Teacher's is smoother, more malty. Very good value at around £16 - £17.00 a bottle, definitely the best value of all the blended Scotch whisky out there. For me, it's like a cross between JW Black and Glenmorangie, this is a really nice whisky, a real bargain at this price. It can be hard to find though, which is a shame, as it deserves to be more widely available. In terms of blended Scotch, this and JW Black are the only blends you need, I've tried most of the cheaper blends, Bell's, Grant's, Grouse, Whyte & Mackay, etc. and they are either too sweet or too harsh, or both. I think Teacher's and JW Black get the balance right, the JW Black is more complex, because of the older whiskies, but Teacher's is a little smoother. Both are a little more expensive than the cheapest blends, but they are worth the extra if you like to drink your whisky neat or with a little water.

    Disappointing

    Bitter, uninteresting, no aftertaste.

    Thumbs up!

Most blends these days aren’t that interesting but this one an exception. I don’t know the malt content but I think it is pretty high compared to most. In any event an excellent everyday whisky.
