Sullivans Cove American Oak Cask (47.5%) Whisky

(70cl, 47.5%)

Sullivans Cove American Oak Cask (47.5%)

Sullivans Cove Oak 47.5% Bottling Note

Sullivan's Cove is made in the Tasmanian Distillery and is producing a single malt whisky in a Scotch style. This bottling has been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and uses water pulled from the surrounding rainforest.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose A real nuttiness emerges first completed with an amalgamation of cereal grain and oats.

Palate The palate is fresh and enticing with subtle notes of citrus and broader tones of vanilla.

Finish Vanilla and hazelnuts conclude this antipodean dram.

Overall Australian whisky made with rainforest water, inspiring stuff indeed!

Sublime single malt
Delicious and worth every dollar. Unless you visit the distillery in Tasmania it is almost impossible to get now anyway. Surprised at the negative reviews here but most are probably Poms that wouldn't know sheep shite from baked beans.

Ridiculous price for an ok whisky
If this were priced around the £60 mark, I'd probably give it an 8/10. It's decent - smooth, fresh, with a "biscuity" finish but whoever thinks that nearly £300 is the correct price point for this is a straight up lunatic. Sullivan's Cove used to be relatively sensible in price. What on EARTH happened?? Avoid and buy something that actually gives you some bang for your buck because this isn't it!!

Totally worth the money
I have around 70 different bottles of Scottish single malt - most of them cost around 60 €, some less, some up to 120 € - which I have all tasted and evaluated.
Now this Tasmanian Devil is quite smooth and lovely. Maybe it is a whisky rather for the ladies since it is very soft and almost silky.
A few weeks ago I received the second bottle after the first one was empty and I can't understand why this one is rated so poorly here.

Pleasant but unexceptional
WTF? This cost a bomb. It's a very mild and ordinary whisky. Seriously - look elsewhere!

Well made whisky
Good whisky with hint of vanilla, floral and fruity. I recommand to taste it. But that's right that the price of the bottle is surprizingly expensive.

Decent but atrocious value for money
Decent whisky but the price point is truly crazy! This price lifts it into an INCREDIBLY difficult field to compete with and this product simply doesn't compete with other products in the price range. In fact, it's not even remotely close to competing. Don't bother.

Great but pricey
Fortunate enough to find a bottle in one of the local bottle shops during a trip to Sydney two years back... A good whisky no doubt but ultimately, can't say its worth the amount I had to pay for it.

Good but crazy price
The utterly ridiculous price masks the fact that this is a good (although ultimately unremarkable) whisky. The annoying thing is that, before Sullivan's Cove won the WWA award for the French Oak edition, the prices were sensible. One award and their entire range doubles in price?? No thanks - there is MUCH better out there, at a fraction of the cost. Try some of the Amrut range for example - truly stunning liquids at a much more sensible pricepoint!!
