Tamnavulin 25yo TBWC Bottling Note

Here is the very first indie bottling of Tamnavulin single malt Scotch whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company! The label of this 25 year old expression features all manner of rhyming gubbins, like a bear on a chair, a frog on a dog on a log and a shrimp in a blimp. Might this have something to do with Tamnavulin meaning "Mill on the hill" in Gaelic...? Maybe...

Batch 1 is a release of 68 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Refined and focused, the nose centres around stewed apples, with notes of wood polish and rich cinnamon in support. Through a little oak char there’s peaches in syrup. An element of rancio is present, adding superb depth.

Palate: Spicy oak tannins crackle through sharper waxy apples and more rancio. Yellow plums and bramble berries provide a complex fruity underlay, among a little golden barley and ginger biscuits. A suggestion of chocolate caramels, truffle oil and pipe tobacco leaves linger.

Finish: Soft and lingering, the finish is almost hoppy after a while.

Overall: A focused, deep and intensely beautiful dram. Sheer class.
