An Old & Rare Platinum bottling from Hunter Laing of 25 year old Tamdhu single malt Scotch whisky. It was distilled in September 1988, matured in a sherry butt for 25 years and bottled at natural cask strength in October 2013, producing 287 handsome bottles, all housed in handsome wooden presentation boxes.

This was an underwhelming dram. If I was poured this blind I would say it was a young whisky. Not a huge amount of oak, not a great amount of sherry and very spirity. At a guess I would say it was a second or third fill cask. Once you add enough water to get over the spirit you get the sherry notes and a hint of tarragon. Personally I prefer the Aberlour A'Bunadh at 1/5th of the price. Nice box though even though the certificate inside was squint ;-)
