“A very nice sherry bomb complete with smoothness and complexity. Infinitely better than the 12 year old, and even better than some other well-known sherry malts in my opinion.”

Description

Tamdhu is well-known and much-adored for its excellent use of sherry casks, and those of you with a penchant for single malt with heavy sherry influence will be delighted to know that the distillery's 15 Year Old expression continues that theme. This one has spent is maturation in oloroso sherry casks, resulting in generous helpings of dark fruit and Christmas spice.

Nose

Charred pineapple, earthy barley and a hearty slice of dense fruitcake, then some toasty oak warmth, orange zest and fennel.

Palate

Still packing heavy dried fruit notes, with a hint of orange oil and dried apricots cutting through. Earthy vanilla appears later on with touches of cedar, leather and cinnamon.

Finish

Warm and sweet, with waxy peels, clove, chocolate ice-cream and oily walnut.

Overall

Another terrific Tamdhu tipple!

Best 15 year old sherry driven dram

It is the best 15 year old sherried dram on the market. Yes, better than Glendronach. Better than GlenAllachie. Both of which are very good. It is £10-£20 more, bit it's unique in the way the taste starts gently then builds. It's had a gracious mouthfeel and experience which is unmatched. It is not a steam roller, but a butterfly of a whisky

Delicious!

Sweet and smoothe - not regularly available here in SA. It’s a dessert in a glass that always leaves you wanting more. How about a cask strength 15??

Master of Malt Customer Oct 5, 2021

Not the king of 15yr sherry cask

It’s good, very good. But it’s £10 overpriced and lacks the balance and structure of the excellent Glendronach 15.

Full flavoured Sherry bomb that doesn’t disappoint. Wow!

Very nice

Very enjoyable indeed. The 12yo never did much for me, but this is an excellent drop. If you're a fan of sherried whiskies then this is definitely worth a try. I would go as far as to say that I enjoy it as much as the GlenDronach Allardice, although this is much better value.
