Tamdhu 10 Year Old

Well-sherried single malt from the Tamdhu distillery, aged for a decade in sherry oak casks. As if that wasn't quite wonderful enough, this has been presented in a delightfully retro-styled bottle. Expect a litany of "Ooooh" and "Ahhhh" noises when you whack this on the table after a good meal.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dried orange peel, red wine, pecan and raspberry jam.

Palate Soft red fruit followed by brown sugar and spicy clove. A touch of chocolate-covered Brazil nut.

Finish Crystallised ginger, cacao and juicy blackcurrant.

Reviews for Tamdhu 10 Year Old
Disappointed
I heard so much about Tamdhu especially as I’m a sherry cask lover. Very disappointed with this one. No sherry or sweetness on the nose & nothing special on the palate. For me it was just like a bog standard lowish cost Speyside malt. Perhaps it was matured in an old refill sherry cask ?

good sipping
nice sipping, not burning alcohol, but very very weak flavors and taste, very weak.

Good entry to Tamdhu
Have grown to love Tamdhu in recent years. This is a good entry level bottling to the distillery. Not a fan of the ABV as it lacks punchiness but it does make for a nice, easy dram at an affordable price.

Heaven in the hills.
Theres something about the 1o, a toffee flavour with a tinge of chocolate and I've tasted upto the 28year old but do like the 19 if you can get it.

Heaven recipe
I found it a bit thick & heavy so I bought some stones ginger wine and mixed it 60mls/40mls with a tumbler of ice now I'm in heaven

AVERAGE FOR ME
I think this is okay ... just not for me and I prefer others in the same price bracket.

Underrated
Has to be one of the best 10 year's on the market. Incredibly smooth and rich. Fantastic whiskey, don't know what the last review was talking about. Must have got a fake bottle

Nice bottle, cr@p whisky.
Nose: ryebread, sourdough, German spiced cakes. raw new-make spirit.
mouth: not good, cheap and nasty. artificial tasting - and so much rye.
finish is quite long, but not that enjoyable.

Conclusion: Pretty bottle, but the contents are not that good (unless you like ryebread) - there is something very wrong with this whisky and it ust have changed from the earler higher point scoring expressions, I suspect the whole thing is now made on the cheap and trading on past glory. Avoid.

Good value dram, very impressed considering the cost.
Definitely get red wine and subtle raspberry jam on the nose. Palate you get clove and chocolate with a cocoa and spicy finish.

A great suprise
Really suprised how much I liked this whisky.
Great mouthfeel, smooth, vanilla, wood, fruit, got better over time.
Would definitely buy again and will explore more of the tamdhu expressions.
I am very curious about the cask strength.....
Highly recommended to anyone, also a bargain price. I can’t think of a better 10yr I’ve had.
