Talisker Skye was introduced in early 2015, named after the beautiful island on which the distillery resides. This expression brings with it a more well-rounded and sweet flavour profile packed with fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spice and traditional Talisker maritime notes.
Talisker Skye is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks. Talisker Skye whisky is perfect for those who perhaps find the classic Talisker flavour profile a bit too much, not to say that Talisker fans won't enjoy it too.
Sweet stuff, toffees and vanilla ice cream up front, almost grain-like. Becomes increasingly honeyed. There's a little coastal influence here too, just hints of a sweet Caol Ila perhaps, with very restrained smoke.
Honeyed toasted oak, sappy wood, only a little pepper and smoke, apple turnovers and hints of lemon and lime Opal Fruits. Fennel seeds.
Drying and slightly less sweet, hints of spice and smoke.

Without doubt the worst malt I have ever tasted how this can even be passed fit for human consumption is beyond me...the only thing I can liken it to is drinking Dettol.. absolutely awfull.
It has changed. I had this bought for me from a supermarket a couple of years ago and it was salty swill. Basically a crude caricature of a Talisker. The bottle took years to finish, but a new friend with a flair for whisky sours helped me see the damn thing off a month or so ago. Then a very well-intentioned person bought me another ******* bottle. I howled inwardly, thanked them profusely and later tasted it to gauge it for cocktail purposes…and it’s fine. Not super duper, not a Talisker, but it’s not awful.
All the poor reviews below are written by soft mouthed cretins that should stick to White and McKay. This whisky is fine.
This is by far one of the worst tasting brews I have ever had, im not even considering it as a whisky. I'm wondering if I can use this whisky as a hand disinfectant, carb cleaner or should I just send it down the gutter? Certainly can't offer it to my guests.
Whisky, unlike Vodka for instance IS all about personal preference ...peat or honey, plain chocolate or milk chocolate, stilton or cheddar, raspberries or strawberries. When I was much younger and still wearing my whisky L plates, I sampled a Talisker while on holiday with my brother in-law. We both suggested it belonged under the kitchen sink. Having only drank pub blends and the usual Irish, I knew nothing about Whisky....but I wanted to know more. Now in my 60's, I still have only scratched the surface. My Wife bought me Talisker Skye for my birthday, only because she liked the box and it was on special offer. Nearly 3 years later, it's still my go to dram. For me it reflects what Scotland is, dramatic, rugged yet warming, the sea, the coast, the mountains, the rivers the wildlife, the heather. All those who so say poured this down the sink???..I suggest you stick to Cardhu Special Reserve, since you prefer something sweet and uncomplicated...or maybe you are a secret JD drinker...yum. Scotland gave us an endless choice of one drink plus shortbread, Billy Connolly and a skirt that men can wear without being embarrassed....not bad eh!
