Talisker 2007 Distillers Bottling Note

It's the 2007 vintage Distillers Edition from Talisker. These expressions are allowed a finishing period in casks that previously held Amoroso sherry, which plays wonderfully with the distinctive coastal salinity of Talisker's single malt. This one was bottled in 2017 at 45.8% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toffee, seaweed, a sharp hint of fresh citrus fruit, milky coffee.

Palate: Juicy pineapple and apple, balanced by a kick of sea spray. Some light vegetal hints of fresh thyme and basil.

Finish: Lingering smoke and dried fruit.

Reviews for Talisker 2007 (bottled 2017) Amoroso Cask Finish - Distillers Edition
Ver nice
Very balanced, intense and complex whisky. The Sherry cask effect is prominent in making the smoke subdued and delicious. This is the first time I tasted an Amoroso cask finished whisky. It’s a ten year vintage and better than the regular 10 years.
Thanks.

One of my favorite whiskys of all time.
It is a well rounded Talisker with a wonderful finish. Big fan

Medicinal with coarse finish
Very disappointing for a Talisker. Nice seaweedy nose to start with but on sipping it is too fiery to detect subtle flavours(if any). Medicinal first hit with a harsh finish. Pleased it is nearly all gone. Shame as I enjoyed the 10yr.

Like medicine
Fiery medicinal taste, not overly complex but more like Laphroaig - bit of a cougher & a slap in the face like a wet fish. Compared to Bruichladdich Organic, which is so complex with tons of flavour - we’re very disappointed 😞

Great experience start to finish
Can you call a whisky “fun”? Like how this one starts out on the fruit side (sherry influence?) and finishes with an expected smoke signal that this label is known for. First Talisker for shelf and not the last.

Marries classic Talisker with a sherry richness!
Rich, smoky, and briney! It coats the mouth and throat and has a long finish. You get the classic black pepper, clove, and allspice notes you’d expect from Talisker, but now they’re accompanied by citrus fruits! Lots of orange and something reminiscent of grapefruit. There’s still enough salty brine and peat smoke to remind you that you’re drinking a Talisker though. Excellent stuff!

Surprising and very enjoyable
This is my first Talisker and i like it very much. Very fruity and delicate the first second, then comes the spicy notes and something salty in the mouth. Finally a quiet strong and dry finish. Considering the price of 50€ i paid, a great whisky for the money. Also very different from Laphroaig and Lagavulin, which give you that nice feeling you have tried something new.

After dinner~
Should have bought more than 1 bottle... Aged well, down to the last 3rd...

A nice smokey finish with a linger of fruit and toffee. A milky sort of aroma creeps up on you with a hint of that seaweed in the air.

Definitely an after dinner sipper~
