Part of the Game of Thrones Single Malts Collection, there is nothing grey about this Talisker, with its golden copper colour provided by the use of heavily charred, ex-Bourbon American Oak casks - less grey, more joy in this amazing bottle of whisky. With the Greyjoys, rulers of the Iron Islands, the coastal Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye is a perfect pairing - though we're yet to see a kraken there.

The nose is quintessentially Talisker with the signature notes of dry peppery smoke and dark chocolate. On the palate the flavor explodes with salted caramel and chili flakes with an underlying peppery smoke. The long, complex finish is layers of fruit cake and the dry spice of the pepper continues with a lasting hint of leather.

It kicks very hard, if you take it neat. Add a few drops of water, let it sit for a minute or two and it opens up. Less smoky than other Taliskers. Quite long finish, very warm with lot of dark chocolate. Definitely worth to buy. Excellent for cold winters days. (R)
Making my way through a GOT taster collection and this was my thoughts on number 3... Talisker select reserve. One of the best whiskeys I’ve ever had. Peaty but not overpowering and the taste lingers and evolves. Cardamom / dark chocolate, slightly salty, slightly citrusy... feels like the ocean. Yum. Tempted to buy more. 9/10 and thinking I rated the first two too high.
Glad I got 2 bottles of this one.. really good, smoky buttery caramel.
The best in the entire line up. Rich, intense, finishes long. This together with lagavulin truly deserve the throne.
