Lovely Strathisla single malt here, independently bottled by Darkness. This 15-year-old Scotch whisky spent a finishing period in a custom-made Pedro Ximénez sherry octave, a tiny cask that ensures a lot of interaction between the wood and the whisky. PX lovers will adore this.
Dark chocolate and toasted hazelnuts greet you, with a subtle waft of dried figs and old leather armchairs. Beneath, hints of treacle and vanilla bean.
Layers of warming spice unfold with nutmeg and cracked black pepper, followed by the sweetness of honey-drizzled pecans and baked apples. The creamy texture develops further with notes of oat biscuits and golden syrup, rounding out the spiced profile with a touch of malted barley.
The finish is deep and lingering, with earthy undertones of tobacco leaf and charred oak. Delicate whispers of dried apricot, dark toffee, and gentle allspice provide a satisfying close, leaving a warm, subtly smoky resonance.
