Distilled in November 1994, this single grain Scotch whisky from Strathclyde spent 29 years maturing in a single refill bourbon barrel until it was bottled in February 2024. A total of 192 bottles join the Fragant Drops collection from the Keeble Cask Company.
Vanilla and apple on the nose, subtle baking spices, touch of toffee.
Very smooth and creamy, like custard in whisky form with warming spices.
That creaminess just goes on forever.
Wasn't sure what to expect as I'd not had a pure Single GRAIN Scotch before. This one needs some time to sit in the glass and is still a bit strong alcohol on the nose, but the flavor is there. Not complicated and not complex or nuanced, but a vanilla bomb, for sure. I won't be purchasing another, but this is so much better than I expected for a ~$100 29 yo. Thin yet lingering. A drop of water helps, for sure.
