St. Magdalene 1975 (bottled 2008) - Rare Old (Gordon & MacPhail)
Distilled at the now silent St Magdalene distillery in 1975 and aged for thirty years in refill sherry hogsheads before bottling in 2005 by Gordon and MacPhail.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
There are notes of green fruits and apple peels, a little dark sugar and some notes of creamy chocolate with a little eucalyptus oil. Hints of granary toast emerge with melted butter. The palate is again quite full with notes of malt extract, juicy barely and cereal sweetness. There are notes of orange marmalade and heather roots with a developing dry oaken note. The finish is quite long and dry with a touch of bitterness on the tail.
