The English Gently Smoked Bottling Note

A tremendous single malt, joining The English collection from the St. George's Distillery. This gently smoked expression was distilled in February 2012 and allowed to mature in sherry hogsheads, bringing some glorious soft spice with a sweet and smoky finish. Limited to 1,800 bottles, they're rather pleasing to the eye with an elegant decanter style design.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Dried fruits and boozy cherries, rich oak and a touch of liquorice.

Palate: Creamy malt, unctuous with sweet spice, and soft smoke, and woody notes of anise and drying oak.

Finish: Sweet toffee and nutty syrup, lingering dry smoked oak, and cakey spice.

English - Gently Smoked Sherry Hogshead Reviews

Disappointing.

Thin and lacking any real complexity. No creaminess on the palate whatsoever. When reading the tasting notes on here and on the bottle labelling this completely falls flat and fails to deliver any real substance.

Not a terribly bad single malt. But nowhere near as good as your expecting.

Much better whiskys out there from England.
