An independently bottled single malt from the English Whisky Co. in Norfolk, matured in a Burgundy wine cask! It was distilled back in 2007 and left to age for 11 years, before being bottled by North Star Spirits with an outturn of 330 bottles.
Oak char and red grape skin, with distinctive wine aromas and a hint of liquorice.
Dark chocolate-dipped cherry, with a flinty backdrop, a dusting of five spice and raspberry jam.
A malty finish with stewed plum.
Tried blind at a North Star tasting. Absolutely blown away. A wonderful seaweed and smokey dram that's reminiscent of a good Bruichladdich. It's juicy red fruit with a bitter cocoa backdrop. Really surprising dram.
Purchased this for a celebration and have to say I am really disappointed. The initial taste is unusual and it leaves such a strong finish of sulphur and rubber that i can't drink it. I have had 9 other North Star spirits whisky's and they have all been superb - this is horrible. The MOM tasting notes are usually spot on, not in this case or me
Tried this at a tasting Stole the show Loved the red wine influence Cherries and raspberry with slight spiciness
