A nine-year-old expression from Springbank which has been matured in a rather interesting way. After spending four years in refill bourbon barrels, the single malt Scotch whisky aged for five further years in Barolo wine casks. This experiment has paid off, as it is a very tasty whisky indeed!

Sweeties galore! Pear drops, chocolate buttons and chunks of marzipan.
Jammy red wine from the cask, with some coastal notes wafting in and earthy tones underneath.
Slightly peated on the finish.
A whisky of many minds, all of them brilliant.
I won't waste words with this one, I only hope the Springbank distillery won't stop production of this exquisite whisky as they seem to have done with the Longrow 14 year-old. Cask strength in a velvet glove - no less!
color: light golden amber nose: fruit emerges with a few drops of water. some light peat palate: soft delivery, complex with fruit, spice, peat and classic Springbank saltiness finish: finish is very clean with spice & fruit
I am a fan of Springbank whiskies in general but I must admit I had some trepidation about buying a Springbank finished in a a Barolo cask. I find wine finishes to be sometimes superb but sometimes awkward. This one is a winner!!!! color: golden amber nose: light peat & fruit, with water more fruit emerges and the peat takes a back seat palate: soft delivery, bourbon spice & creamy texture,]. With water there is a beautiful complexity of fruit, smoke, spice and brine finish: finishes like a fine cognac
