Springbank 30 Year Old - Wormtub Single Cask
Goodness gracious, the folks at Wormtub have something exceedingly special for us here – a 30-year-old single malt from Springbank!
One of Scotland's most treasured distilleries, this Campbeltown legend malts its own barley on one of the country's last operating floor maltings, and is one of the few to still use an old-school worm tub condenser. Worm tubs are prized for the distinctive, heavy, robust flavour profiles they can achieve, and this characterful gem boasts a superbly full mouthfeel, layered with smouldering campfire smoke, cherry compote, savoury hints of soy, and aromatic, earthy old oak. A release of 190 cask-strength bottles, drawn from a single hogshead.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet and earthy, with citrus, dried fruits, and oak. Wafts of the sea balanced by autumn leaves and an appetising herbaceous hint.
Palate
Full mouthfeel with rich, ripe fruits and smouldered campfire. Marmalade and cherry compote. Savoury soy element with lasting rich distillery hallmarks.
Finish
Aromatic oak with more earthy, warehouse character emerging against slight salinity, camphor, and stewed plums.
