Nose Through plenty of typical Springbank funk, there’s salted peanuts, black olives and juicy peach and plum. Notes of sweet tobacco, smoked fish and redcurrant all appear underneath among wood char and dry roasted spices.
Palate Mulch, leafy herbs and cardamom make way for bright citrus elements, sticky date-like sweetness and fresh ginger. There’s a hint here of granary bread with salted butter and Nutella.
Finish Coal smoke, slightly meaty malt, oily walnut and a touch of dried cherry.
Overall A terrific whisky that’s an example of what makes Springbank great.
