23-year-old Springbank single malt! This is the 28th batch from the legendary Campbeltown distillery to be bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, this time featuring whisky world newlyweds Alwynne "Miss Whisky" Gwilt and Herman "Kiek in dd Kook" van Broekhuizen. A marriage of sherry and Madeira butts, the whisky was treated to a little honeymoon in a bourbon barrel before bottling. See what they did there?
Batch 28 is a release of 411 bottles and by the time you're reading this it's probably already all gone.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Big bold layers of burnt rubber and tar, oily ropes, resinous tobacco, and walnut oil.
Palate
Black Forest gateau – loads of dark berries and chocolate rest among layers of leathery oak and oily malt, with waves of coastal salinity riding through.
Finish
Salted chocolate and a hint of menthol gather for the finish, with earthy old oak, charred peppercorns, and dried stone fruits.
