Bourbon
This is a rather intriguing bottling of 23 year old Springbank from Murray mcDavid's Mission Gold range. It was distilled in 1993 and initially aged in a bourbon hogshead, before being transferred over to a first-fill Koval Bourbon cask then bottled in 2017 with an outturn of just 165 bottles.
Grilled pineapple, floral malt and a hint of sea air. A slight hint of maple syrup on waffles, too...
Smokier than the nose suggests (think smoked meats rather than burnt wood), though fruity sweetness remains at its core.
Salted chocolate brownie, crunchy brown sugar, peppercorn and toasted cinnamon.
