Springbank have released another edition of its 12 Year Old Cask Strength, and as ever, it's an impressive drop of Cambeltown single malt. This edition matured in 70% sherry casks and 30% bourbon casks for a dozen years before being bottled with an ABV of 56.2%.
Toasted nuts, grassy peat, a soft hint of honeyed oat-y cookies.
Salted caramel, vanilla, dried fruit, macadamia nuts, all wrapped in a blanket of fragrant smoke.
Soft salinity, peppery malt, a subtle citrus-y sweetness.

This is probably the best Springbank I’ve tasted. Absolutely superb. Beautiful warming caramel notes with a touch of spice, vanilla, honey, a trace of smoke and a selection of fresh and dry fruits. I’m taking my time with this bottle as I consider it a little treat. A whisky that really clings to the palate.
Probably my favorite whisky in the $100 and under price range. It's just so perfect. I actually get a good amount of grapefruit on this particular bottling that I don't hear people mention. Excellent excellent excellent!
Sherry, honey, a bit salty, syrupy and delicious
Absolutely stunning at the price range. It's like drinking engine oil. Very waxy and super complex. Grab one while you can!
Best thing I’ve ever tasted? Probably, or pretty close.
