Springbank 11yo Local Bottling Note

This is the second release from Springbank's already very popular Local Barley series (which was revitalised in early 2016 with the 16 Year Old Local Barley, and will be seeing a further three expressions over the coming years). It's an 11 year old single malt Scotch whisky made with Bere barley from Aros Farm. This expression was matured in bourbon casks before being bottled at 53.1% ABV.

Please note: The box has some signs of wear and tear.

These bottles were part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose: What an incredible nose, to start with marmalade and honey, then mineral notes from the Kintyre peninsula. As it opens up, freshly baked bread with sweet notes of sun dried bananas to contrast with salted caramel topping.

Palate: The promise given in the nose continues, a lovely creaminess and sweetness of grapes, custard, honeycomb and marshmallow. This is balanced with salted popcorn and liquorice, and an ever present, hint of peat.

Finish: There’s a nutty quality about this, almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts as well as an air of indulgence, rich and buttery with an elegant finish that keeps on giving.

Springbank 11 Year Old Local Barley Reviews

Interesting and entertaining.

Quite interesting. Consistent with the lightly peated and tangy Springbank style. With addition of some water the honey notes come forward and balance the peat notes beautifully.

Vry different from other Springbanks, a fine dram

What a surprise, very different from other Springbanks (my favorite distiller), sweet flowery honey nose, creamy grainy palate. short buy lovely finish, seaside reminders throughout........

It's how old? What is this witchcraft?

Just came back from a mates birthday celebration. We convinced him to crack it open... Didn't take a lot of convincing to be honest. Anyway we were all blown away with it. Simply glorious. The salty and sweet notes with the balanced hint of peat is fantastic there's a lot of clarity and clear clean flavours which I enjoyed, it has a long finish probably my favourite aspect very nutty turning to buttery shortbread.

Now I find out its sold out everywhere.

I'd even take a sample MOM, I just need another hit.
