Springbank
Scotland
Single Malt
A lovely Longrow aged for 14 years and bottled at a whopping cask strength. This was aged for 11 years in refill bourbon casks, before a 3 year finish in Burgundy hogsheads. A limited release of 7,800 bottles.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Nutty and quite chocolate-rich, with notes of buttertoffee, cranberries, jam on toast, a hint of gunpowder, and some maple spice.
Sweet oak on the palage, with hints of toffee popcorn, salted butter, star anise, sweet cereals and a little Christmas pudding.
Oaky and spicy, hints of nutmeg, ginger and toffee apples.
This is extremely enjoyable. I have come to really trust Springbank for quality. I am American and my bottle looks a bit different with the label no longer reading "burgundy" awkwardly across the rest of the text, otherwise appearing the same. For me this has a sweet fruit note that is specifically reminiscent of pink cotton candy, along with all the other Longrow characteristics. I picked up the last one where I found it and I will acquire another bottle of this if I ever see it again.
Overlooked in the collection due to its plain lable. Nice color, nose, and flavor. Smooth considering the hifh alcohol content.
