Hazelburn 10 Year Old Bottling Note

Part of the Hazelburn core range, this is a 10 year old bottling of Hazelburn single malt Scotch whisky from the Springbank distillery in the Campbeltown region. It is triple distilled, matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV.

Hazelburn is one of three styles of whisky produced at Springbank, known for being triple distilled and unpeated, whereas Springbank single malt is distilled two-and-a-half times and is lightly peated, and Longrow single malt is twice distilled and heavily peated.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toffee apples, fresh honey and fragrant pears. Hints of vanilla.

Palate: Good mouthfeel paired with bright notes of vanilla and Crunchie bars. More lively fruit notes underneath.

Finish: Oily and sweet on the finish.

Overall: Early evening dramming, this one. Relaxed and flavoursome.

Rolls Royce Whisky
A dram of extremely complexity and elegance. In my opinion it’s better than Springbank 10 and is truly special. Drinking this slowly as I don’t have a back up bottle yet.

Wonderful unpeated highly drinkable
Honeyed with a hint of heather. My favourite! Hard to find since COVID though.

It will happily get the freakin job well done for the price
The most Christmassy scotch for the buck ;) ... Definitvely have a good hint of chared coal, oak, a bit of fruits (fruitcake flavors), vanila and honey... Dangerously well balanced, a specialy while doing your christmass tree

One of the classics. Long live Hazelburn
Should really get a sixth star. just poetry in a fluid. Rabbie would have written an ode to it. Almost impossible to get alas but im reducing my bottle count so selectively drinking some it. The family wouldnt enjoy it anyway

Flavour bomb
Apple juice in colour, this has a nose not for the beginner, as you might expect from Springbank. The first thing that hits is a sharp citrus, lemon/lime and some sour apple. Underneath there's a little vanilla and honey sweetness coming through, it's reminiscent of pear drops, that mix of sweet and sour fruit.

A real mouth tingler this one, coats everywhere, sticking to your gums. Same tingle sensation from mouthwash, if you had a sip of this when you were sleepy it would wake you up with a smack. That mix of sweet, sour continues, the sharp pears and apples combining with a burnt bonfire toffee.

The finish is long and flavoursome, treacle toffee, peanuts and that signature Campbeltown salinity shows up.
A young malt, but bursting with flavours, but not for the beginner.

Its a superb whisky
Its lovely, oily mouthfeel, bit of pepper almost and then sweet resinous and unctuous. Very very good , quite a long spicy finish.

Wonderful, just wonderful stuff.
Elegance in a bottle, 700 mls of liquid, 1400 mls of flavour. Smoother than two babies bottoms.
This stuff is ‘the right stuff’.
I could go on and on but you get the picture, I love it.
Why oh why isn’t 46%abv the industry standard???

A brilliant discovery.
A superb whisky from Hazelburn...I prefer it to the Springbank 10 (which I love).... Spicy and sweet on the palate with a little bit of heat on the finish...no bad thing. I have only had a neck pour so it may well settle down. Good value too.

Epic
Initially tried the 15 yo and was hooked...then that ran out so tried the 10 yo expecting a lesser dram - I was wrong. Complex, sweet, oily (like old Strathisla) and worth every penny. Get it while you can at this price.

Top-notch dram!
At this very moment I am enjoying my second dram of this rather remarkable whisky (stopping after one would be out of the question!). Instantly intriguing on the nose and palate, then keeps delivering more with each subsequent visit to the glass. So much more to this than simply Springbank without the peat. Highly recommended!
