Here we have the sixth release in Spirit of Hevn's Seven Star series, No. 6:1 Mizar. The blend marries lager malt, peated malt and chocolate malt, matured in a trio of casks, including Muehlenbergii oak from Missouri, Petraea oak from Allier and Robur from Bourgogne.
This is the only heavily peated release in the Seven Star series, and the final blend was finished in barriques which previously housed Chateau Margaux Premier Grand Cru. The reason it is called 6:1 is because the sixth light point in the Ursa Major constellation is a double star, where Mizar pairs with Alcor. We eagerly await the 6:2...
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Gentle smokiness alongside sweeter notes of raisins, liquorice, vanilla and cacao. Delicately floral chamomile and violet balanced by old leather and grassy aromas.
Palate Dry notes of toasted oak and subtle peat, with more violets and vanilla accompanied by loads of chocolate, sweet malt, rich coffee and cinnamon.
Finish The palate continues onto the finish, with the addition of rich fruity wine notes and gently tannic oak.
