Speyside 7 Year Old 2015 Single Cask (Master of Malt)

Speyside 7yo 2015 MoM Bottling Note

We're big fans of The Speyside Distillery, and we've been looking forward to the day that this single malt reached bottling time. That day came in 2022, seven years after distillation, when we cracked open the hogshead in which it dwelled and unleashed a total of 548 bottles. At this price, we can't imagine we'll be in possession of that many for long.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fragrant florals with citrus blossom and light, fruity tea, warm sourdough, and buttered shortbread. A touch of apricot fromage frais and candied pineapple come later.

Palate: Creamy, zesty key lime pie, yoghurt-coated raisins, and soaked oats are accompanied by sugared orange zest and butter biscuits.

Finish: Fresh peach, plum, and apricot linger, with plenty of buttery fudge and poached pear. Soft spices rest elegantly beneath.

Yuk, yuk, yukky.
Add some flavoured syrup and some lemonade and it's palatable, just.
There are no redeeming features at all about this, whatever it is. I am a fan of Spey single malts, have been for many years and only rarely try something else.
I would have poured it down the sink, but that would be against my nature. If it's alcohol it has to be drunk, somehow.
