SPEY Trutina

A well-balanced single malt from the SPEY range released in late 2016 (alongside their first peated whisky - Fumare) matured in bourbon casks. The name comes from a Latin way of expressing balance, and the whisky certainly falls in line with that idea. A release of 18,000 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Chocolate cheesecake, candied orange and fresh barley.

Palate Almonds, buttered bread, orchard blossoms. Crisp and refreshing.

Finish Medium length with notes of sugared peels.

Winner of 2 spirit awards

Reviews for SPEY Trutina
Poor whisky
After purchasing this whisky I was very disappointed with it.
Obviously a young whisky with no body and after taste. You hit the spirit and taste of fruits initially but quickly disappears. Nobody has put their name to it so speeks for
itself. I like to try all sorts but this one is very poor hence I gave a review.

Perfect Summer dram
Colour and smell, almost like a white wine. Sweet Vanilla and apples taste, with a sweet sugary finish. I really enjoyed this, yes its not complex at all, but its the perfect summer dram. Too easy to drink. Great price

Not bad, but a touch sharp.
I get apple and vanilla, on the nose, with a touch of the grain.

Brown bread & butter is a fine tasting note, from The Chaps, above. Just a slightly sharp edge to it, but quite refreshing - would make a good aperitif.

I was brought a 20cl bottle of this, and the Chairman's Choice, by a friend who visited the distillery, and the Chairman's would definitely be my recommendation, despite the extra cash.

This is far from bad, but I think I can find better, for less.

A good summer dram
A typical speyside whisky. The nose and the palate are the same. Apple, fruity, citrus, vanila almond sweetness. Floral. Colour and taste almost like white wine.

Although not very complex, but is very pleasant and very easy to drink. This is a very good summer, day time whisky. The finish is medium thanks to the 46% abv, but with a hint of tannic note and some roughness around the edges to remind you that this whisky is young.

Overall quite balance. Certainly worth a try unless you are peat head. Is quite easy to finish a bottle because of its fruity, white wine like character.

One thing i must comment is the packaging and the bottle. Top class for its price point.

Great taste
We only had a 20 ce bottle we brought back from our trip to Scotland. My son in law and I found it to be the best tasting Scotch we ever tasted and drank. Our spouses, liked it as well; we would have needed a 75 cl. Can’t wait to get back to buy some more

A very nice dram
This is a really delightful light malt, they have made a perfect balance, the pallet is light and fragrant.
Job well done to the boys and girls at Spey.
