The Speyside Distillery is one of those that just doesn't get enough love because for ages, it didn't have single malt ranges. That's all changed now, and you can get acquainted with its characterful fruity spirit in marvellous cask strength single malts like Trutina, which was drawn from bourbon casks to preserve that distillery character.
Apple pie topped with brown sugar and cinnamon. Creamy vanilla and a juicy burst of orangey sweetness in support.
Layers of vanilla, honey, and strawberry jam coat orchard fruit and baking spices.
Clove and toffee.

Definitely sweet, light and young. With a few drops of water added there is very little alcohol burn for a whisky bottled at 59.1%. The nose is delicate with vanilla (as expected from bourbon casks) and soft fruit. Just a little peppery. Sweet (pear drops) on the palate with vanilla and summer fruits. The finish is short but sweet and peppery. Oh and just one more thing…..the bottle is nearly too tall for my cupboard!
