SPEY Fumare Cask Strength - Batch 4 Whisky 70cl

    Product details

SPEY Fumare Cask Strength - Batch 4

A beautiful example of the kind of delicate, grassy peated whisky you can find in Speyside. Fumare is the Latin for 'Smoky' and also Gaelic for 'Peat' because the Speyside Distillery doesn't really mess around when it comes to naming its releases. This cask strength edition was matured in ex-bourbon barrels to preserve all that smoky goodness.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Subtly smoky, shrouding honeyed nuts, stewed orchard fruit, and vanilla custard.

    Palate

Toffee apple, malt cereal, and toasty oak join the lush forest fruit sweetness and grassy peat.

    Finish

Slightly burnt brown sugar and smoked herbs.

“Reminds me of Ardbeg Blasda but cask strength. Apples, oak and smoke sum it up perfectly. ”

Reviews for SPEY Fumare Cask Strength - Batch 4

    Don’t be fooled

This incredibly pale looking whisky is amazingly FULL of intense flavours. You expect it to be fairly easy going and it’s abv might just hint that it’s a “sipper”! Don’t be fooled though, each dram WILL lead to another.

    Fumare oh oh

Let's be right, you won't be getting the smoke blast of the Islay big beasts here, but hold on a minute. There definitely is smoke, and it mingles well with more typical Speyside notes. A very small splash of water opens it up and encourages a slight haze. To me this is an old fashioned kind of dram. Given its strength and that it is NAS there is a bit of a bite to it but for me that's all to the good. It reminds me a bit of fondly remembered Ledaig NAS. A damned fine dram.

Best whiskey I've tasted to date!!!!

I was given a quarter of this as a friend of a friend gave it away and I was blown away. Was slightly worried with only 1,500 made.

    My new favourite!

Tried this at the recent Edinburgh Whisky Stramash and without a for it was the start of the show for me. Treated myself to a Boris and it does not disappoint. Smoky peat (but not overpowering) with treacle and vanilla notes). Try it!

    Amazing

Really lovely - marries all the sweetness and fruit of a solid Speyside with rich but not overwhelming smoke. Way too easy to drink.
