SPEY Fumare Cask Batch 2 Bottling Note

SPEY Fumare was the Speyside Distillery's first ever peated whisky, and this here is a cask strength edition! You may have suspected already, but Fumare is Latin for 'Smokey' and also Gaelic for 'Peat'. It's aged in bourbon barrels, and the limited edition single malt saw an outturn of 1,500 bottles at cask strength, 60.4% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toffee apple, smoked herbs, malt cereal, honeyed nuts and flapjack.

Palate: Vanilla custard and stewed orchard fruit, caramelised, if slightly burnt brown sugar and toasty oak.

Finish: Subtly smoky, shrouding a slight hint of forest fruit sweetness.

Best whiskey I've tasted to date!!!!

I was given a quarter of this as a friend of a friend gave it away and I was blown away.

Was slightly worried with only 1,500 made.

My new favourite!

Tried this at the recent Edinburgh Whisky Stramash and without a for it was the start of the show for me. Treated myself to a Boris and it does not disappoint. Smoky peat (but not overpowering) with treacle and vanilla notes). Try it!

Amazing

Really lovely - marries all the sweetness and fruit of a solid Speyside with rich but not overwhelming smoke. Way too easy to drink.

Phenomenal

Reminds me of Ardbeg Blasda but cask strength. Apples, oak and smoke sum it up perfectly.
