A handsome presentation of the SPEY Chairman's Choice single malt Scotch whisky. It comes from the Speyside Distillery, owned by Harvey's of Edinburgh, who bought the distillery in 2012. The Chairman's Choice release comes from a tradition started by John & Robert Harvey, where the chairman of the company would choose the finest casks of whisky on Christmas Day to share with the family.
Apricots and marmalade, with a slight touch of buttered toast.
Creamy vanilla, another juicy burst of orange-y sweetness, upside-down cake.
Subtly spicy on the finish - Christmas cake filled with stem ginger and cinnamon-style.
Converted a non whiskey drinker with this but perhaps a mistake as it’s less for me! Very smooth
If you like a gentle, easy, Speyside whisky, this is for you. I was given a 20cl bottle each of the Trutinà and this, by a friend who had visited the distillery, and this is definitely the one for me. Silk on the tongue, with a long, mellow finish. A beautiful example of a gentle, delicate Speyside, with or without water. Ian
Golden colour from Barley.....
Spey Chairman's Choice was the first single malt I was introduced to at a party back in 2009. Buttery smooth, sweet, malty, lots of hay and lemon grass or similar notes. I have since moved on to Islays but will always have a soft spot for the Chairman. My rating of 8 stars reflects my initial impression of the malt that got me started.
Sweet, lovely finish. Very smooth.
