It's the very first batch of single malt from the Speyburn distillery independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! As if that wasn't worth celebration already, this was also the Boutique-y bunch's 100th different line!
As we can see from what the educated salmon is teaching the Victorian gentlemen on the label, Speyburn is "Never smoother! None better! The world's finest! Simply incredible!" Don't trust the opinions of an anthropomorphic ray-finned fish wearing a tweed jacket and monocle? Well, what about the opinions of the Whisky Sponge? The non-human, partially metaphorical construct is quoted on the back label as saying "Lagavulin wishes it was the Speyburn of Islay".
Unofficial Speyburn Brand Ambassador (until the tribunal) Jan Birch is also quoted as saying "Speyburn owes its unique flavour to the Victorian Salmon Cannon used in its production." Intriguing stuff!
Batch 1 is a release of 233 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
