Speyburn 10 Year Old 2008 (Master of Malt)
Superb single malt from Speyburn, matured for a decade between 2008 and 2019 in refill hogsheads. Those casks were opened up by the folks at Master of Malt, and as tempting as it was to just keep it "in-house", we decided the whisky would fit rather nicely into our collection of independent bottlings, with a release of 362 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Plenty going on with juicy pear and runny caramel leading the way. Toasted sourdough with plenty of butter and citrus blossom honey join later.
Palate
Quite zesty with green apple and biscuity malt opening things up, supported by sprinklings of cacao.
Finish
Drying herbs linger beneath silky layers of barley and butterscotch.
