Speyburn 1974 (bottled 2004) - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)
A 1974 vintage from Gordon and MacPhail, matured in refill sherry butts. The Speyburn distillery has plenty of history, and during the Second World War, it was used to house two regiments of the Scottish Artillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is quite full with cereal notes in spades. Notes of cut grass and hay, smoke from a lit hay bale and pine oils, arak, fennel and buttered granary bread. The palate is of medium-body. Notes of oak and cereal with barley sweetness. The whole is smoothed over by caramel, notes of fruit cake, burnt toast and candied peels. The finish is of sound length with plenty of barley sugar.
