This 10 year old single malt was a gold medal winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A classic from the Speyburn distillery.
A fruity nose with hints of orange, mandarin and cooking apple. A touch of oak, peppermint and spice.
A light, gentle palate with soft malt, sweet, toasty barley with liquorice and dried herbs.
Just a touch of smoke trails off on the finish.
$34.60 - $95.13
There’s nothing medicinal here. Citrus fruit on the nose, sweet, almost bubblegum like notes. On first meeting the tongue; smooth, floral, lots of fennel, white oak, then slight pineapple and black cherry. After a cleansing start, the finish turns rather oily, peppery and layered. Much more complex than expected.
Vanilla, Caramel, Floral light and Grassy. Its a good value. Bullseye for a Speyside. If you were blindfolded, you'd say Balvenie. Anyone giving it a bad rating is an idiot. 4/5*
I like it. Sweet finish, light.
Smells medicinal, but in a hospital kind of way, not peaty or Islay style. There’s worse whisky, but this is a lower shelf malt. Meh.
Excellent whisky, smooth and very drinkable, only trouble is it doesn't seem to last as long as other brands !! I feel sure the contents must evaporate if you turn your eyes away !
