Smokehead is a superb, cult single malt from Ian MacLeod. Just a massive, thick peat smoke rich dram. Plenty of great south Islay character.
Smoke! Lapsang souchong. Cool wood smoke. Thick and full.
Big, puckering peat. Smoky, fruity sweetness, touch of sherry, sultana. Herbal.
Herbal, tangy fruits and more peat smoke!
Pour the cheapest whiskey on the planet into a dirty ash tray and drink, it'll taste the same I reckon.
This is all smoke, I couldn't get the bonfire taste out of my mouth even after having a dram to mask it. I did not enjoy this experience.
Good whisky, too pity of all the caramel addition…
I'm a fan of most peaty whiskies but didn't enjoy this at all. Had an unpleasant plasticy, or burned rubber taste. It reminded me of the new Famous Grouse Smoky Black, which I also think has taken a real downturn since it replaced the Black Grouse. But if you're a fan of the former you might like Smokehead too.
Just enjoying my first dram from my first ever bottle bought on special offer at my local supermarket. Wow this one is one to savour....and I mean, several minutes between each neg. It's THAT chewy! It has the smoke and peatiness of Ardbeg but an even deeper, fatter rounded out bottom to it. Don't be put off by the somewhat yoof-oriented label (which almost put me off in the shop).
