A release of 6,000 bottles of 18 year old Smokehead, packaged smartly in an "extra black" bottle. Full bodied and rich.
Very peaty and smoky, rich and deep with notes of spice, herbal, some tropical fruit.
Medium on palate entry, then builds with spices and peat smoke. Sweet oak, chocolate and peat.
Long, fruity, cocoa.

Received this as a gift. Simply immense.
Mine is the blank stare, eyes fixed to an empty black bottle of which once poured all the peat-smoke perfection one could conjure. My memory keeps adding stars to this review. I've become mad.
We can neither confirm nor deny that this is Laphroaig ;) -- The Chaps at Master of Malt
Should be under Laphroaig distillery.
I've bought a number of scotches in this price range. I don't think I agree with the previous reviewers assessment. I would compare this with the Laphraoig 18 or the Laphraoig Quart Cask (which is probably one of the most amazing values of the heavily peated scotches) or with the Lagavulin 16. Those are somewhat cheaper, I'll grant you, but this offers some flavors those others don't. All said, this is a peaty, smoky spirit with a fair amount of complexity. If you've done the Lagavulin and the Laphraoig, you probably have to sample this.
