7 year old Swedish single malt from Smögen, appropriately named Barrique! as it was drawn from four barrique casks that previously held Bordeaux wine. The whisky itself is heavily peated, leading to a wonderful contrast between the intense smokiness and fruit-forward wine cask influence. A release of 1,685 bottles.
Earthy vanilla, strawberries and black pepper, bonfires.
Smoke once again appears right from the opening, followed by raspberry sorbet and dark chocolate mousse.
Lingering embers and a touch of liquorice.
