Single Malt

Back in 2013, Sweden's Smögen Distillery released its very first single malt whisky, named Primör. When the casks for Primör were emptied, more spirit was loaded up into them and left to mature once more - and the resulting whisky is Primör Revisited! This time it's a 6 year old expression, bottled at a particularly hefty 68.2% ABV (a drop of water certainly helps this one) in October 2019 with an outturn of 1,616 bottles. A cool idea, and it has resulted in some delicious whisky. Ideal, really.
Burnt sugar, toasted almond, red chilli jam, a slow build of smoke and fragrant oak.
Fruity malt boasting hints of fresh apples, pears, redcurrants and blood orange. Savoury charred wood and peppercorn, with a hint of dark chocolate.
Lasting peat smoke and further cooking spice heat.

Simple yet awesome, something you must try. But the price (at least in Sweden) is a bit too high for the age and provenance, as the unsold bottles shows. /E
