Slane Castle is one of Ireland’s most famous locations, known for its rich history and huge gigs featuring some of the biggest musical acts of all time, such as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Queen, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie. The site just outside Dublin is also home to a distillery, where the family of the castle’s owner Earl of Mountcharles makes Slane Irish Whiskey. This triple distilled blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys which are divided and matured in no less than three casks: virgin oak casks, seasoned casks (which previously contained Tennessee whiskey and bourbon), and oloroso sherry casks. These individual blends are then married together before being bottled, with that mellow, sweet, and approachable profile so often associated with Irish whiskey.
Sweet oak and toasted barley at first, with layers of caramel and ginger developing later on.
Victoria Sponge Cake with plenty of jam and cream in the middle. A touch of butterscotch.
More toasty notes linger on the finish.

Smells of sweet buttery apples, cherries, plum and floral notes. Taste is butter forward, developing into cherry, apple, apple peel, flowery and wood end, a tiny bit bitter. Nice light aftertaste. Quite good
.. As there's not many Irish whiskeys out there that i've still yet to try, & being my favoured choice of tipple, its not often i stumble upon something completely new to me, so when i chanced upon a bottle or two at my local Asda recently priced @ £30 a bottle, damn, i just happened to have £30 left over after shopping, so that was that, my first ever unresearched, unplanned, unknown & now nervously bought- bottle. The result? This well balanced refined whiskey could easily compete with some that cost double this price in any blind tasting test.
Pairs well with a habano cigar or may pair well with any light cigar. The whiskey is very smooth, not complex.
Easily the best tasting Irish whiskey on the market, I enjoy my whiskeys and I cannot get enough if it.. so smooth and easy to drink neat. This is a premium whiskey for a regular price..
Very nice smooth just nice. Very easy drinking and moreish bit naughty nearly drunk the whole bottle.
