Slane Special Edition Bottling Note

A smashing special edition from Slane Irish Whiskey, celebrating the musical legacy of its home – the mighty Slane Castle! Back in 1981 the very first Slane Castle concert took place, headlined by Irish rockers Thin Lizzie. Safe to say it went down well, as over 40 years later the annual Slane Festival is still going strong.

As with Slane's classic expression, whiskeys are selected and blended from a variety of casks – virgin oak casks, seasoned Tennessee whiskey and bourbon casks, and Oloroso Sherry casks. The Slane gang has increased the use of virgin oak from 35% to 45% and dialled up the bottling strength (to 45% ABV) as a reminder of a classic 45rpm vinyl record format! Why not stick on some tunes and sip on this?

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Vibrant oak char, fresh apple, and creamy vanilla lead the way, cushioning gentle gingery spice.

Palate: Sweet notes of nougat, dark plums and berries, silky butterscotch with hearty helpings of toasted oak.

Finish: Buttered popcorn, vanilla richness with orchard fruits, toffee, hints of sawdust, and a prickle of pepper.
