Siren Bay
A heavily peated single malt from the Highlands of Scotland, Siren Bay is brimming with notes of coastal smoke and elegant fruit. Matured for a generous 18 years, a portion of the whisky aged in oloroso sherry casks, imparting sumptuous layers of sweetness and spice to the hearty peat smoke that sings at its core.
Lovely whisky, probably the sweetest heavily prayed whiskey I've tried. The nose is smoky, with hints of dried fruit, yay and, subtly, coffee. The palate is honey sweet with massive hits of salty smoke, quite aggressive but smooth. The 18 years have been well spent. The finish is like a cloud of smoke erupting, leaving somewhat sweet tar notes. A real.delight.
I had this as a side by side by side with Ledaig 18 & Talisker 18 to try & identify the distillery. Personally, this sings of Talisker. The coastal salty vibe shines through along with the sweet peat and mellow fruitiness. Some smoothing toffee and vanilla notes thrown in for good measure. A simple whisky with a short to medium finish but still worth every penny I paid. Would I buy this again? Oh yes, and again and again and again.
Great whiskey, definite but not overwhelming smokeness. Very smooth with a lovely balance of sweetness.
Not quite as complex as I was expecting but a lovely dram. Smoke hits but then the fruitiness comes through. Would definitely recommend at the £55 price point. Only reason I didn't think it was 5* was the finish which was quite short.
This is a lovely little malt, but I'd certainly never call it heavily peated. I would also call out all those who think it's from one of the islands, it's not......it's definitely as described a Highland Peated Malt..... At this price point & at 18 year old I suspect this may come from Loch Lomond
