A splendid juxtaposition of sweet peat smoke and sherry collide in Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire & Sherry Casks & Cask Strength 10 Year Old from the ampersand adoring gang at &Whisky! Matured for a decade, this batch of the smoky Islay single malt was fully finished in sherry casks, bringing decadent layers of dried fruit and cakey spice to join coastal waves of powerful peat and salted peanuts at its core. Bottled at natural cask strength, you get bonus ampersands, bonus sherry, and bonus strength here. This whisky really does have it all and more.
Herbaceous peat and dense aged fruit cake lead the charge, joined by notes of dark salted chocolate, mocha, and pebbly minerality.
Hearty helpings of Medjool dates and plump raisins, powerful peat, and salty sea breeze. Mature oak brings notes of linseed, with cinnamon warmth, while smoky salted peanuts nestle beneath.
Sweet peat smoke lingers, with marmalade, rich, roasty oak char, earthy coffee, Brazil nuts, and boozy hot chocolate
Wow, never has a kick in the teeth been so welcome, what a dram!
Stunning stuff..a huge step up from the standard version (still lovely) but this is on another level. I will return.
blown away with this whisky. If you're a fan of Ardbeg Uigeadail,I reckon you'd like this.rich, tasty smoky.marmalade, jaffa cakes, bonfire and a deep sherry colour.try also the regular version which is equally nice.Lovely whisky and gives the big boys a run for their money!
A big-hitting sherried dram with an injection of Isay peat? Well yes, sign me the hell up. Appearance: Deep polished maple. Slow waxen legs. Nose: Balsamic vinegar, smokey bacon, gentle sourness, dark honey, unripe bananas, leather, damp air, and burnt sugar. What a combo! Palate: Sweet and thick with a beautiful balance of peat. Smoked rashers of bacon drizzled with maple syrup, pistachios, and glugs of unctuous sherry richness explode in the mouth. Undiluted, the warmth is just right. Finish: Long with sweetness and peat dancing around the palate happily. A final wisp of ash on the exhale. Conclusion: Absolutely brilliant. As simple as that. A total bullseye hit on sherry and peat. What these guys have done with the balancing of this whisky is just sublime. Master of Malt has just about summed it up when they say: "Gosh, this really is yummy" I can't really top that. It really is. If you see a bottle of this, don't ignore it!
This is a great dram. No marketing budget. A cheap ass bottle. A label that looks like it was done on a laser printer. No expensive, luxuriously finished packaging. It’s almost perfect. My hard earned pennies appear to be paying for what’s actually in the bottle and I think it shows. The liquid is a blisteringly full on assault on the senses. Big nose. Bigger mouth. Huge finish. AtomLabs need to keep doing this. Don’t milk the punter, treat them well and they will keep coming back. This is how you build reputations. 10/10
