Seaweed & Sherry Cask

Back with a fourth batch, a superb cask-strength whisky joins the ampersand-laden Seaweed & Aeons collection. This edition of the revered Islay single-malt spent ten years maturing, with the full batch enjoying an additional finish in sherry casks. Not only that – the whisky was then bottled at a hearty cask strength of 54.9%. So you get bonus ampersands, bonus sherry, and bonus ABV here, this whisky really does have it all and more.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dense fruit cake and herbaceous peat lead, with salted dark chocolate and subtle pebbly minerality.

Palate Hearty helpings of raisins, dates, and dried cherries join big, bold peat smoke. Linseed and cinnamon sticks join in time, with salted, smoked peanuts in tow.

Finish Candied oranges, sweet peat, boozy hot chocolate, and roasty oak char.

Amazing
The flavours are amazing. Lovely Smokey aftertaste with sweet tones. Would definitely recommend.

A delight!
Yup, this one is definitely a Caol Ila, I'd say. Likely an ex bourbon, finished in a refill sherry butt. Very refined, but robust rich favours, with subtle, minerally peat, without it being medicinal. Very good stuff. 88/100.

Grab a bottle while you can
Lovely dram! I left the bottle open for a couple of hours before sampling. Not too overpowering for a cask strength but in my opinion better with a drop of water. I’d recommend people try this but I think it’s in the same ball park as Uigeadail, which you can get for cheaper (only reason I’ve rated it 4) I’m half way through the bottle and it’ll be gone before Christmas.

Pleasant surprise
A really fresh, sharp whisky with a clean finish.

Superb!
This is up there together with the very best of the existing core peated/sherry offerings around. It's somewhat of a hybrid between Uigeadail and Laphroaig Sherry Finish, but overall a very welcome addition to my collection. Highly recommended!

Love it!
Some faint iodine and plenty of smoke on a base of sherry on the nose, a good hit of peat followed by more sherry and wood on the first sip. Relatively long lasting with quite complex tastes and more smoke later. Will buy again.

Yum
Oh what a fantastic dram. As you sip it, layer upon layer unfolds and further layers are revealed when you add a few drops of pure chilled water. Absolutely yum - but take it easy at 56%. Enjoy 🥃

Best ever !
Amazing
Intense fruity ness to start and mind blowing peat with a smokey finish that makes you think you are a dragon. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
My most favourite dram ever!

Blows your socks off
Wow, just wow. Intense, smokey, meaty, sherry and an amazing finish. Only complaint is the price … highly recommended even at this price.

Just wow.
This has shot straight to the top of my list of all time favourite bottles. It really is that good. Insanely rich and well balanced, with a finish that seems to continue to develop and last all night.

I highly recommend this to any fans of sherry finished Islay malts.
