Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire is a big, bold Islay single malt, boasting bountiful layers of coastal smoke, sweet fruit, and oaken vanilla. This edition has had all that goodness amped up even further, with a 12-year maturation, and the addition of another ampersand to the label, having finished up in a single Port Cask! With layers of meaty malt, jammy berries, vinous oak, and smoky salinity to explore, this is special stuff right here.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Classic Seaweed &..., with an added hit of jammy fruit! Tannic oak and earthy peat smoke collide, with hedgerow berries in tow. A lick of thick toffee and Rhubarb and Custard sweeties follow, with a touch of honey-roasted ham beneath.
Palate
Meaty malt leads the way, bringing notes of fennel salami, backed by sweet balsamic poached fruits. Stewed berries and vinous oak nestle comfortably among the smoky salinity, and beach bonfire notes.
Finish
Cranberry sauce, cinnamon, and salty notes of samphire are joined by aromatic pink peppercorn warmth. There are fruity oatmeal cookies too, with lingering sweet peat for the finish.
