Seaweed & Aeons & Christmas Cake & Cinnamon

Uh oh, it looks like the &Whisky folks have got their hands on the teleporter from The Fly and combined two of their terrific expressions into one! Or they've simply just blended them together to make a marvellous blended malt Scotch whisky. One or the other, probably. Anyway, Seaweed & Aeons & Christmas Cake & Cinnamon is a 50/50 blend of Islay and Speyside single malt whiskies, specifically the Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire and Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon. The resulting expression offers up sublime smoky, peaty notes with brilliant bursts of dried fruit and festive spices – tremendous stuff!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Mince pies, shortbread, salted butter, sea spray, spiced hot chocolate, and roast chestnuts.

    Palate

Toasty cinnamon, earthy peat smoke slowly building with a meaty hint underneath, layers of sweet dried fruit revealing themselves along the way.

    Finish

Smokiness lingers, with simmering touches of cassia and clove.

    Overall

The best of both worlds in one whisky!

    A compromise too far

This is a shotgun wedding of a whisky. Two whiskies forced together into a marriage of convenience that neither wanted or were suitable for! On initially breaking the seal and pouring the first dram you could tell the two were still fighting! There was no cohesion and you either got a massive explosion of one or the other and a weird, bitter aftertaste. As with much in life, after several days and weeks of being allowed to settle down on its own, it finally softened and began to show a willingness to compromise and cooperate as I worked through it, and was nice enough. But I think that’s the biggest thing I take away from this whisky; compromise. There’s vastly better and more cohesive blended malts out there for similar money, including from this producer. I would seek them out and leave this warring blend get the counselling it so clearly needs!

    First class

Wow! I am not normally a whisky drinker, but intrigued by the tasting notes, I ordered two bottles. I am glad I did. They made my Christmas. I shall need some more soon. Watch for the oder!?

Nothing is Perfect, but Blending Gets Closer

I love Islay whisky - and I really enjoy Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg 10. These are the perfect girls my Mum wanted me to date. Then I met Bunnahabvein 12 - and she was a posh girl looking for some excitement. Finally, I arrived at your Islay/Speyside 10-year blend - and I’m now happily married. A perfect blend!

    An exceptional whisky

Very like a good Islay malt with lots of peat smoke. Slightly toned down but only just! This is a smooth sipping whisky and will definitely be on my repeat list

    Superb Blend

Absolutely superb. Reminds me a bit of a nice Bunna. An Islay whisky with that bit of a difference.
