Seagram's V.O. Bottling Note

Seagram's VO is a classic Canadian whisky blend, made with spirit of at least 6 years of age. It is said the blend was created after a post-prandial conversation amongst the Seagram family; the letters "VO" might well stand for "very own", as in, their very own blend...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Juicy, spicy rye grains, dried apricot, lemon curd, oak and gristy sweetness.

Palate: Spicy and creamy, medium-bodied with honey, caramel and coffee. A touch of orange marmalade and pannacotta.

Finish: Medium length, spicy and sweet.

Seagram's V.O. Reviews

A great drink

I found an unopened bottle of Seagrams VO with a Pennsylvania LCB tax label dated 1962. I drink it with a little water and a small lemon wedge (and in the summer one ice cube). It is so smooth. A great drink!! Just hope a new bottle will taste the same as the 1962 bottle.

There is a reason VO is the best !

I've been drinking VO for almost 50 years with just a little water. I am able to drink VO this way due to its smoothness,it doesn't need cola or anything else because it's made to perfection. VO is one of the few whiskeys that someone can drink and enjoy this way, thank you VO for the hard work making this great whiskey.

Love VO!

I happen to really enjoy VO. Smooth taste and the color is a very nice amber. I prefer it, and if you say it's aged 6 years, l believe you!

I've been drinking VO for decades.
I love it!

WOW !!!! - Disappointed

WOW !!!! - Disappointed
Seriously if you like rye - then get some LOT 40, Canadian Club or better (BEST) yet get some Sazerac (if the price is right and it's available)
BUT DO NOT buy this - it is harsh, and horrible - similar to a cheap Irish blended whisky
For a proper rye whiskey get any of the above
I will use mine up as a whiskey and Coke !!!!

Enough said!

the best

I starting drinking this in 1972 and have been still drinking it today. I fine its harder to get in some places. Also if they don't have V.O I drink Canadian Club, so smooth. I drink it on the rocks with a splash of water. love it.

It is a waste of money !!

Is it 6 years old?

Used to say "6 years old"- didn't see that on your bottle. Same thing with Crown Royal- used to say "10 years old" - now no age statement, cr tastes like sugar, little flavor compared to the old 10 yr.

Very good value

I have opened a bottle of Seagrams's V.O. that is probably thirty years old. I know it says on the label that it is only six years old, but this bottle was purchased many years earlier, I am guessing around 1970 or 1980. I opened it tonight and it is wonderful. It tastes like many whiskey's that are advertised as 14 years old or more. I agree with the palate note by The Chaps at Master of Malt. The nose is not very prominent, but the palate is full of honey, caramel although not so much on the coffee. A good value for $30. I wonder what thirty years has done to this single bottle, but it appears to be all good! I usually taste single malts that cost twice as much, but this is a nice surprise. There are other Canadian whiskey's that are out there - especially Lot 40 - that are superior, but this is half the price and almost as good.

No summary. No stars. Run from this at all cost.

I am 58. Just watched the entire Madmen series back to back. Inspired by the show's use of genuine 60's and early 70's icons, I purchased a fifth of SVO last weekend. It is the worst alcoholic beverage I've yet had; pure burn . . zero flavor . . what a crime you're allowed to bottle this. I'm going to keep the bottle, though, and refill it with quality spirits - as it does shine on my retro silver serving tray. But? Really? You folks've put the H in Horrible, here. Maybe it was top shelf decades ago. Those days are gone, baby.

Most enjoyable whiskey

A favourite since the early 1970s

Just another farm boy,

I've been drinking Seagrams VO since I was 21 and am now 78. I look forward to my VO and coke every day. I've missed a few days but not very many.
Never did know what the VO stood for. The computer said "Very Own." Won't make it taste any better but at least I know what the VO stands for. Sure does make the coke taste good.

Are you serious?

I was reading the "Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt" and I felt it was over-generous.

Seagram's VO is what we Canadians drink when we want whisky at the price of the cheapest vodka. Maybe my nose and palate are not perceptive enough (even though I'm an avid Single Malt Scotch Whisky drinker), but I find this whisky very "skinny" and bland, like the cheapest bourbons. It tastes something like rye whisky diluted with neutral spirits. Cheap vodka served in an unrinsed glass that had previously contained an Islay Single Malt was more flavourful than this!

Buy only to save money.

a true canadian spirit

this whisky is a bit like Canada and its good people...polite, reliable but when pushed hard enough steely and fit for fight:) Not bad at all, certainly not as bad and uninteresting as many claim it is.
