Ileach Cask Strength Bottling Note

A great Islay single malt from an unnamed distillery. The Ileach always scores well with the critics, this cask strength edition was awarded a mindblowingly high 97 points by Jim Murray in his 2010 Whisky Bible.

Ileach Cask Strength Reviews

Brilliant whisky!

This is very rapidly becoming my favourite Islay Whisky! Please don’t ask my why, it’s just that there is this something that really appeals to me!

Worth spending time with and experimenting. Lovely stuff.

Wary to begin with because of the nose... rather unpleasant oily manure odour.
Left it for half an hour, warming in my palm, then tasted but far too astringent and course without water for me, so added three lots of 5mls, with tasting between each addition. I found both the 10mls and 15mls enhance the experience and tame the beast releasing an assortment of flavour associations that seem to change each time I have a dram. The most significant finding was that after nursing it for a couple of hours, there is no burn, flavours are enhanced and the aftertaste of smoke is deliciously pleasant and lingers long...over 5 minutes, which is exactly what I was hoping for... but it needs coaxing out. Delicious. (still hate the nose)

Great. A little harsh & I drink it with 10% water

Take it with some water, not much, but some..

Wow i'm no expert but this packs a real punch. Careful with your measures as it's strong. Two parts whiskey and one part water and it brings out beautifully plummy tones. I love it..

Excellent whisky

My favourite whiskies all come from Islay, but I feel that this one is just a wee bit above the rest! I’m NOT a whisky expert, or anything like that, it’s just what I like! 💕💕💕💕

We’ll worth a try, I promise!!!

This whisky is RAPIDLY becoming my favourite! I’ve like it from my first ever tasting of the 40% variety, HOWEVER, this cask strength is in a league of its own! 💕💕💕💕💕

Smokyish

My new 'go to' single Islay malt, smoky but palatable. Love it.

Just..... Wow!

Blimey! This should be called 'Aftershock' or 'Blowback'.
A lovely peaty malt that hits the palate very nicely, then follow up with a secondary punch that you need to be ready for.

A hidden grm

I stumbled across this amazing dram whilst meandering along Callander high street and found The Callander drinks company.
Rachel was great in guiding on various Whiskies and this was, for me, a hidden gem. I love this dram, 58% abv, cask strength.
A new single malt for me, loved it.
