Scapegrace Vanguard
This single malt from New Zealand's Scapegrace is distilled from New Zealand laureate barley before maturing in first-fill French oak casks. With notes of poached pears, vanilla, custard, and coconut, the folks at Scapegrace recommend this in their take on the classic Debonair cocktail! Stir 40ml whisky, 10ml ginger liqueur, and a pinch of salt with ice until chilled, strain into an ice-filled rocks glass, then garnish with a piece of grapefruit peel and a maraschino cherry.

Nose
Floral malt and honey open the way, joined by stewed orchard fruits and spiced apple crumble.
Palate
Sweet notes of poached pears and vanilla cream lead to anise, a touch of grassy malt, honeyed banana chips, and peppery warmth.
Finish
Notes of floral spiced tea and honey linger, with liquorice, cinnamon, and peppercorns beneath.
