Santa Fe Spirits 5 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
This American single malt was inspired by Scotch whisky and produced at Santa Fe Spirits in New Mexico. 30% of the malted barley is smoked with mesquite, a cooking wood renowned for its distinctive, sharp flavour, and the whisky has certainly adopted delicately fragrant wood smoke character in the process. Bottled up at five years old, at a hearty cast strength of 65.7%, it makes a splendid addition to the USA Series from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
Batch 1 is a release of 284 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet notes of pressed cider apples and winter spices, with trickles of runny caramel.
Palate
A powerful helping of peppercorns, woody spice, ginger, and liquorice are balanced by baked apples and brittle toffee. There's some fragrant woodsmoke nestled comfortably in the depths.
Finish
Peppery spice, charred oak, cedar, and anise.
